New Kawasaki Ninja 2011

For those beginning their two-wheeled journey, the Ninja® 250R sportbike has always been a great option to start. Its low seat height and peppy engine translate into hours of fun for both novices and veterans. Though its engine may be compact, its eight-valve cylinder head means a rider can wring every bit of enjoyment from each twist of the throttle, from idle to redline. And with sharp styling that matches its supersport siblings, the Ninja 250R looks fast even while standing still. Best of all, the 250R is a great value, with an affordable purchase price and excellent fuel economy.

The fun begins with its 249cc liquid-cooled engine that thrives on high-rpm excitement. The parallel-twin is tuned for peppy power delivery that’s both smooth and predictable, making for a beginner friendly motorcycle. A silky-smooth six-speed transmission lets riders exploit the 250R’s powerband from that low-end grunt to the crowd pleasing and lively top-end rush. Just like the supersports, it uses petal disc brakes. And the lightweight Ninja provides plenty of entertainment from the initial learning curve to beyond.

Wrapping the 250R are the fairing and windscreen that not only look great, but deliver wind protection for a wide range of riding situations. An easy-to-read instrument panel with fuel gauge and neutral indicator is another convenient feature for the new rider.

A natural riding position and comfortable ergonomics combine with lightweight handling, easy controllability and great throttle response for pure pleasure on city streets. Part of this great handling and stability comes from the 17-inch wheels. Bringing the show to a stop are the large petal-shaped 290mm front rotors and a single 220mm rear rotor gripped by powerful two-piston hydraulic calipers. Like Kawasaki’s other Ninja models, the 250R is equipped with quality components and tuned for class-leading performance.
how about the new 2011 Suzuki Hayabusa?

Lightweight and agile, the Ninja 250R boasts low ownership costs and is a dominating force in the entry-level sportbike category.

S KTRC Sport Kawasaki Traction Control

With S-KTRC, Kawasaki becomes the first Japanese manufacturer to deliver a race-bred traction-control system to the masses. As an evolution from what was learned on the MotoGP stage, Kawasaki points out that this traction-control system has been developed “to help riders push harder on the track by maximizing acceleration.”
Whereas the KTRC on the Concours 14 is designed primarily for safety, the S-KTRC helps reduce lap times by allowing a certain amount of slip before intervening. As long as “effective traction” is maintained, the TC will still allow power slides and wheelies.
Wheel-speed sensors are a key component of OEM TC systems, but S-KTRC does without an accelerometer (Ducati) or a gyro bank-angle input (BMW). The Kawi system (in development for five years) uses a Mitsubishi ECU to monitor engine speed, throttle position, acceleration rate and comparative wheel speeds to judge the bike’s slip angle, retarding ignition timing if the tires need to be reined back in. Data points are examined an incredible 200 times per second! By doing without accelerometer or bank-angle sensors, S-KTRC has no fixed maps, so the TC is able to adapt to modifications like exhaust systems or engine tweaks.
Kawasaki claims its TC system is so sophisticated that it can predict when traction conditions “are about to become unfavorable,” so it can engage mildly before slippage exceeds the range for optimal traction, minimizing harsh intervention.
Three levels of TC can be dialed in from handlebar switchgear, even while moving, and it can be switched off (while stopped) if you’re especially brave. Your chosen TC setting is stored in memory – like the Ronco Rotisserie, just set it and forget it!
The bottom of the new gauge pack has a 7-section bar-graph display showing the amount of TC intervention. Jeff Herzog, Kawasaki’s senior media relations coordinator and a former racer, said he saw only one bar light up during a full-throttle corner exit over a racetrack’s curb. “You’ll be amazed how often you’ll be able to use full throttle,” he says.

2012 Kawasaki Ninja Sports Bike Introduction Pictures

 Introduction:
The ZX-9R debuted in 1994. Kawasaki developed the model in response to Hondas introduction of the CBR900RR FireBlade for the 1992 model year.

Prior to the advent of the FireBlade, large-capacity Japanese sports motorcycles had become polarised. On one side were the 750 cc sport bikes, influenced by Endurance racing and the World Superbike Championship. On the other, the "big-bore" 1,000 cc-plus sports-tourers had become the natural evolution of the performance bikes of the preceding 20 years. In simple terms, the 750s had the handling, the big-bores had the power. In both categories, Kawasaki ruled. The ZXR750 offered the technology and the performance of ultra-expensive racing-homologation models from Honda and Yamaha at half the price, and it outclassed the similarly priced GSX-R750 of the time, which still featured a perimeter frame and an oil-cooled engine, while the ZZ-R1100 held the title of the fastest production motorcycle on Earth.

Model History:

[edit] ZX900 (1994)

The first ZX-9R could be seen as a ZXR750 incorporating a number of ZZ-R1100 design features. The wheels (three-spoke cast aluminium alloy 3.5-inch x 17-inch front and 5.5-inch x 17-inch rear), front forks (fully adjustable 43 mm upside-down KYB) and unbraced fabricated aluminium box-section swingarm with fully adjustable remote-reservoir KYB monoshock were direct carry-overs from the ZXR. Importantly, the twin-piston rear Tokico caliper no longer mounted via a torque arm, and the clip-on handlebars mounted above the top triple clamp, not below. The four-piston Tokico front calipers and 320 mm front discs were common to the ZZ-R and the ZXR.

The frame was a welded aluminium-alloy dual-beam with cast steering head and swingarm endplates, but with steel-tube engine cradles and swingarm-mount endplates extending back to support the riders seat and attach the bolt-on subframe, like the ZZ-R1100.

ZX900B3 (1996) and ZX900B4 (1997)

Detail changes. Power increased from 139 to 141 hp (105 kW). The rear suspension linkage and rear spring rate were replaced, improving handling. Pillion grab rails were added, the gearboxes were made stronger, and new six-piston Tokico front calipers replaced the previous models four-piston units. The weight of the bike increased to 218 kg (480 lb).

ZX900C1 (1998) and ZX900C2 (1999)

For 1998, Kawasaki completely redesigned the ZX-9R. The basic roadgoing bias of the bike, with the relaxed riding position and generous chassis dimensions remained, but the character of the bike was fundamentally changed.

Engine bore, stroke and redline remained unchanged; everything else was completely new. The clutch was changed from hydraulic to cable-operated. The generator was moved from behind the cylinder to the more conventional location at the left end of the crank. There was now no balance shaft. The valvetrain switched to direct valve actuation, and the cylinder head was plumbed for then-new plug-top ignition coils, replacing more conventional remote coils and high-tension leads. Notably, the new engine also featured a Hall-type cam position sensor on the exhaust camshaft. Cam position sensors are typically used in conjunction with electronic fuel injection. As the ZX900C featured induction by Keihin 40 mm CVKD carburettors, a cam position sensor wasnt necessary. Its inclusion could indicate that Kawasaki had designs to include fuel injection on the engine in the future, but this did not happen until the 2003 introduction of the Z1000, which uses a bored-out ex-ZX-9R engine with a side-draught cylinder head.

2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX 14R

2013 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R Reviews, Specs, Price and Pictures - Superlative Performance: the fastest and Strongest Sportbike within the World!

The massively additional powerful, R-designated, Ninja® ZX™-14R created its debut last year as Associate in Nursing nearly entirely new bike. It remains on-top for 2013, ruling because the undisputed king of the sportbike world. New nonobligatory ABS brakes complement its wonderful comfort and usefulness on the road, and facilitate increase its attractiveness to a good vary of riders. its to be powerful competitory against a machine just like the ZX-14R, year once year, and continuous refinements have unbroken it many steps previous the sportbike competition, all whereas filling enthusiasts’ face shields with wild, ear-to-ear grins.

The ZX-14R packs a one,441cc inline-four that produces considerably additional power than the other production sportbike on the planet! huge power delivered swimmingly has perpetually been a giant Ninja hallmark, therefore surface-milled combustion chamber shapes and polished intake ports offer most flow whereas operating united the remainder of the induction system. This final Ninja very will come back “ported” straight from the manufacturing plant.

High-lift camshafts ar operated by a superior cam chain and tensioner system to assist guarantee high-rpm dependability. light-weight solid pistons additionally facilitate sturdiness Associate in Nursingd ar cooled by an oil-jet cooling system that pumps a continual stream of lubricating substance at the bottom of every piston. (Testing shows the engine runs significantly cooler with this race-spec system.) The spectacular sturdiness designed into this high-compression powerhouse continues with its super-strong alloy connecting rods have robust little ends; it additionally uses thick 40mm rotating shaft main journals; and its transmission gears ar heat- and surface-treated for swish shifting and a protracted service life.

Feeding this category dominating engine may be a giant, high-flow, air-cleaner part that helps stop rubble intake while not proscribing performance, and a Digital fuel injection system (DFI®) system that gives automatic idle adjustment and helps scale back emissions. Exhaust exits through a superior system with large-diameter tapered header pipes and large-volume mufflers, every with a complicated catalyzer to reduce emissions.

The benefits of all this hot-rodding ar substantial, as there’s category leading power nearly all over across the rev vary. the benefits ar most profound within the mid-high rate vary, however unbelievable acceleration remains obtainable from as low as four,000 rpm. This interprets into the type of thrust riders will appreciate in an exceedingly wide selection of things, whether or not it’s powering up a pike on-ramp to merge with fast-moving traffic or cruising on a deserted backroad on a sunny, Sunday-morning ride. On the ZX-14R, total domination is simply a twist of the throttle away.
The Ninja ZX-14R’s engine is quite supremely powerful; there’s additionally lots of polish and refined manners to travel in conjunction with it. The engine’s twin gear-driven counterbalancer setup has been optimized to figure with the mill’s industrial rotating shaft and long-stroke dimensions. the tip results swish power across the complete rev vary.

Beyond simply being imposingly sturdy, the engine’s manners are effectively managed by a mixture of its back-torque limiting “slipper” clutch assembly, a three-mode KTRC traction system and a two-mode Hi/Low power selector system. the primary 2 KTRC modes ar supposed to maximise acceleration like the ZX-10R’s S-KTRC, the third mode is tuned for low-traction (wet/slippery) conditions, like the Concours 14’s KTRC. The KTRC system are often turned-off by the rider and its settings and also the Hi/Low ignition maps are often chosen with the bar-mounted toggle/push switch. KTRC activity are often monitored on a seven-segment period of time chart within the cockpit’s LCD info-screen. The back-torque limiting clutch technology comes directly from the racecourse, and helps eliminate the wheel-hop and stability-eroding torsion effects of energetic downshifting and braking whereas cornering, or throughout spirited – or emergency – stops. It additionally helps shield the bike’s drive train, for optimum sturdiness.

The results of all this refined Associate in Nursingd hi-tech hot rodding is arguably the best open-class sportbike engine ever designed – and an engine this capable wants a equally competent chassis during which to measure and thrive. The ZX-14R is up to the task, then some. Kawasaki engineers designed its chassis to deliver a light-handling and mobile temperament. to supply a sweet-handling character not to mention real sport riding performance, the engineers designed the frame’s atomic number 13 castings and forgings to possess distinctive flex and rigidity characteristics. therefore whereas its monocoque alloy frame and atomic number 13 swingarm styles look like the first ZX-14, they need immensely completely different flex characteristics, stiffer in some places and unchanged in others. Infobahn result creates a perfect balance for the ZX-14R’s world category power and acceleration capabilities.

Front and rear suspension calibration helps maintain the equalization act of wheel management, ride compliance and manoeuvrability. each the 43mm absolutely adjustable inverted fork and multi-adjustable single shock supply wonderful response throughout a good speed vary, whereas the superbly machined 10-spoke wheels scale back unsprung weight to assist acceleration, handling and suspension action.

The powerful triple petal-type disc brakes facilitate offer powerful, fade-free stops and a progressive feel at the lever. For 2013, the Ninja ZX-14R is additionally obtainable with nonobligatory ABS brakes, for added rider confidence on mixed or slippery surfaces.

Of course, with this a lot of top-shelf performance, you furthermore mght ought to look smart. Dynamic styling has been a Kawasaki hallmark since the times of H1s, H2s and Z-1s, therefore it’s solely fitting that the head of a protracted line of sportbikes appearance the half. From tip-to-tail, the ZX-14R’s bodywork honors the imposing, angular and flowing shapes that have created recent Ninjas a number of the foremost enticing sportbikes existing. The nose is very imposing, with a extremely aggressive nose fitted with a quad-headlight assembly and an oversized ram-air duct to stuff cool atmosphere into the intake system. the normal 4-fin theme on the fairing’s sides contains a pronounced 3D style, whereas nice effort was exhausted to cover hooks and fasteners the maximum amount as attainable. The bike’s tail section is very well-sculpted, with faired-in flip signals and a cool rear seat cowl – customary on all U.S.-spec models – boosting aesthetic performance.

The fairing package offers purposeful advantages in addition as aesthetic ones. The seat, for example, offers wonderful thigh support and helps create it simple for vertically challenged riders to achieve the bottom. The bodywork’s emission system effectively extracts heated air from the engine bay and faraway from the rider and rider.

Instruments and controls ar absolutely up to the most recent standards, with a multi-function activate the left bar that handles all system functions; youll be able to toggle the LCD screen mistreatment the upper/lower buttons, and simply scroll through fuel consumption, remaining vary, battery voltage, external temperature, traction management, etc., selecting and adjusting functions mistreatment the ‘select’ button within the center of the on/off switch. There’s even Associate in Nursing “eco” indicator on the LCD screen that lets riders understand once they’re obtaining most economy and fuel mileage.

The end results of all this technology and every one these options may be a dominating open-class ride – a supremely swish, powerful Associate in Nursingd refined sporting bike that’ll lief go anyplace there’s asphalt and have intercourse with an uncanny level of competency. High-aggression Sunday-morning rides? No worries. Two-up on the coast for the weekend? simple. traveling to and from work? easy. Weekend bracket athletics at the native dragstrip? Cake.

See? It’s tough to contend with Associate in Nursing open-classer this smart at numerous things. It’s a reality our competition is aware of only too well.
